Chihiro Shinohara's design enthusiasm is for exploring elegant, functional solutions for complex urban sites, reflecting her background in architecture, landscape architecture and environmental design. She has worked on the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC, Dongtan Park in Seoul, South Korea, and Spring District Parks in Bellevue, WA.

Chihiro is a native of Hokkaido, Japan. She received an MLA and MArch from the University of Virginia, a BLA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an AA in Industrial Design from Sapporo School of the Arts.
