Associate

Kim Jacobs grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she spent many hours sitting under a Jacaranda tree with a sketchbook and colored pencil set in hand. Her upbringing in a post-apartheid country contributed to her unique design perspective, as she witnessed firsthand the discrepancies that exist in the lives and communities of people from different socioeconomic and racial groups. In her professional and personal life, this experience has led to a passion for creating spaces that are accessible, welcoming, and engaging for people of all backgrounds, ages, and physical abilities. Her research about the psychological and health benefits of outdoor spaces, while receiving her BA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland, has contributed to her knowledge in this area.

Kim brings to GGN her experience overseeing a wide array of landscape architectural projects across the United States. Her human-focused design approach aims to create memorable places that actively engage all the senses and encourage meaningful interactions. She pays particularly close attention to the creation of paving and planting palettes, working with elements of texture, pattern, and sound.
