Situated on the north edge of downtown Seattle, the design strives to create a strong sense of identity for the School of Medicine campus while responding to the unique programming needs of a biotech research facility. The integrated landscape components promote a cohesive site experience as one moves through the indoor-outdoor spaces. A paved promenade widens as it approaches the south sidewalk symbolizing the connection between academia and the local neighborhood. Additionally, an outdoor seating area creates an informal gathering space for both local citizens and building occupants. On the west side of the site, widened, tree lined sidewalks create a pedestrian friendly street.
