Ayami Akagawa, a recent graduate from The University of Tokyo with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering, is currently a Master in Landscape Architecture candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. With a multi-disciplinary education in Japan and Switzerland and her broad field research around the world, Ayami is refining her interest in the intersection between landscape architecture, infrastructure systems, and people.
Growing up in Japan she developed a keen awareness of the impacts and relationships of natural disaster relief and environmental restoration. Through her environmental restoration experience, she became increasingly committed to the role of upholding the memories of affected local communities and the importance of the physical and emotional attachments people have to their place.
Through landscape architecture Ayami intends to further explore and combine her interests and experiences utilizing her knowledge in design, engineering, and people.
