Bessy grew up in a small town in El Salvador where her love for nature and outdoor spaces took root. She has always held a strong fascination for art, architecture and landscapes that evoke deep emotions. The landscapes she experienced in her childhood, like her great-grandmother’s garden and the coffee plantations, had a great influence on her.

After graduating from community college with an Associate Degree in Architecture, she transferred into the undergraduate Landscape Architecture program of Cal Poly Pomona where she received her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture in June 2018. Here she had the opportunity to continue with her interest in community work and volunteer in the campus Dreamers Center.

Bessy has had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy and travel throughout Europe. Experiencing different landscapes and cultures has broadened her perspective about urban spaces – especially the interaction between landscape and people. Landscape Architecture has inspired her to continually stretch her ideas and concepts. She aspires to practice in the future and design aesthetically appealing spaces that allure the senses yet keep the users’ needs at the core.
