The lecture is presented by M.A.D.E. in Edmonton, as part of the Not Architecture Lecture Series, in partnership with Edmonton on the Edge and the Edmonton Design Committee. September 18, 2009 - Gustafson Guthrie Nichol partner Shannon Nichol and associate David Nelson gave a walking tour of the Lurie Garden during the ASLA Annual Meeting. They were joined by Colleen Lockovitch, the Lurie Garden Horticulturalist, and Roy Diblik of Northwind Perennial Farm. Together this team spoke about the Lurie Garden design, construction, plant procurement, maintenance, and programming. Also representing GGN at the annual meeting were Emily Pizzuto who sat on the Landscape Architecture Magazine advertising awards jury, and Rodrigo Abela who participated in a panel discussion about designing landscapes for cultural institutions. GGN was also honored to be Landscape Forms' Guest of Honor a the Landscape Architecture Foundation Millennium Magic Gala on the stage of the Pritzker Pavillion.

April 14, 2009 - It was announced today that the Freelon Adjaye Bond team, including Gustafson Guthrie Nichol has won the design competition for the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The new museum will be sited on the Washington Mall just east of the Washington Monument. This will be the last building built on the Mall. Read the Washington Post article here.
